This music video is dedicated to a beautiful and extraordinary person in my life (Cover Photo). She is a restorer of my heart. I am a fortunate man to find that particular person to spend the rest of my life with, while I grow old, reflecting upon thoughts of our future together. I am happy and thriving in my life today and using all my talents to help others enjoy some pleasure of relaxation during the COVID-19 pandemic, social unrest, and school social distancing in California.
This ballad explicitly demonstrates in words and music how two single people found each other and became best friends and lifetime partners. Through this friendship, I found inspirational guidance, transforming myself to reach beyond the depths of understanding of how to move beyond grief, yet transition to living life once again. My special friend helped edit my new book, Facing Death Together: Our Losing Battle Against Cancer, in which I share my personal life-changing experience about how my dearly departed wife and I handled a life-threatening illness diagnosis and treatments, offer some home caring guidelines, share our pain management solutions, grief experience, end of life comfort, and managing the dying experience. My wife Joyce lost her battle with cancer in 2019. She was the reason I began singing and recording. For years during our marriage, I would record albums of music just for her. She would play them in her car every day and also on our extended vacation trips. My first album was an unpublished cover song production of Christmas songs (2006), which she shared with her co-workers. I made three other personal cover/karaoke renditions recordings just for her. I have collected recording equipment to use while performing as a DJ/KJ for the past 27 years. Each song that I have recorded made her fall in love with me again and again. After her death, I would play those songs and sit sadly alone and cry.
Listening to the songs I recorded made me realize that she wanted me to be happy and not live independently and be sad. Before her death, she recommended someone to help me with my grief and help me keep a promise, therefore paying a final tribute to a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. I kept my promise by writing Facing Death Together, but this song is about a new found love about my feelings for a special lady that has lifted me from the dust of grief to a new life of hope and reassurance. This music video production features the second release for my newly started Jordan B. Smith, Jr. Music Company.
The motivation for singing this song is due to multiple requests for me to sing at a local entertainment spot in town. My first song singing in public after 16 years (age 65) was an original by Lionel Richie entitled "Hello." I sang this song in an attempt to win the heart of this one special lady in the audience. I did not expect or anticipate the continued request by the band and the audience for me to continue to sing every time I came back. Then the Pandemic, COVID-19 shutdown hit. The shutdown allowed me to focus on singing. So during the pandemic, I used Alexa to help me pipe songs into the home of the lady that I loved who lived just across the street. I would record a song and then it would be passed to others in the neighborhood. I received compliments and just continued once again. The end result was the recording of 50+ original song recordings with my voice using notable professional songwriters and music composers. This process although coincidental helped to provide encouragement and relaxation to others in the community after hearing me sing songs.
So during the shutdown, I have written a book and recorded 53 songs which are now on Amazon, Itunes, Spotify, and other networks. But wait I forgot to tell you that I am 66 years old. Quite frankly, she is my inspiration, the love of my life, and I now I can proudly tell her, “Forever is For You!”
